Live! by Loews Arlington

By Desha Schalekamp

I will start by saying I love Arlington, Texas. I am a little partial to the city ever since working there for almost three years as the General Manager of Arlington Trolley. I was a 30-year-old female General Manager in charge of mostly senior aged men that had been in transportation all of their lives. That position taught me so much about being true to myself, being confident, strong, fair, caring and learning how a team can become one big family. It truly shaped who I am today.

I spent almost every waking hour in Arlington from Spring Break to the end of summer making sure the visitors were enjoying their time and smoothly getting to the entertainment location of their choice. What was really awesome is I had the opportunity to work back-to-back World Series and a Super Bowl. Something that wasn’t even on my radar professionally.  But the reason I think Arlington has such a big piece of my heart is the experience I had with my team and how excited they were to be an extension of what the City offered to their visitors. FUN! So much FUN!

It had definitely been a hot minute since I had been to Arlington and I jumped at the chance to go. We are talking like 7 years. I was AMAZED at the transformation and couldn’t wait to hear about all the new and upcoming projects the city was working on.

A SPORTS JUNKEY’S PARADISE!!

The Live! by Loews is located next to the new Globe Life Baseball Field and within walking distance to the Dallas Cowboys AT&T stadium and the E Sports Stadium & Expo.

I met Kerri Matthews with ALHI for lunch at TEXAS Live!  We dined at the Live! Arena which is the “living room” of Texas Live. TV’s as far as you could see and a perfect place to catch your favorite sports team(s) in action.  A fun menu with bar bites, burgers and delicious beverages, this is a great place to hang with friends on a weekend or rent out for a spectacular welcome reception.

After lunch we met the man, the myth, the legend, Michael Robertson, National Sales Manager for the Loews for a pre-site coffee at the River Market. It might have been mentioned that it was his third of the day.  This cute coffee shop is the perfect place to grab a drink before your morning meeting or a light bite for lunch. The market sells products produced locally and has some great treats to grab as gifts.

Located next to River Market is my dream living room set up. A beautiful glass encased fireplace with soft seating welcoming you to grab a glass of wine or a Legal Draft Beer and relax.  Fun fact a brewery was supposed to be included inside the hotel but never actualized. The space is now The Overlook and an amazing location to host a welcome reception, small tradeshow, dinner or meeting. It overlooks AT&T stadium and Johnson Creek Greenbelt.

Once you have downed that refreshing cocktail, you need to head to Cut and Bourbon. This classic Texas steakhouse in an indoor/outdoor space, which has two private dining rooms and a chefs table was our next stop on the tour. A perfect place for a VIP or executive dinner. “Chef Moose” has worked with world renowned chefs and has continually found his way back to the Loews family by working at the Don CeSar, Loews Atlanta, and Loews Aventura. His “award- winning creativity and global vision” oversee all five of the Live! by Loews restaurant outlets. The food can’t be missed and of course you need a sip of Bourbon while there, I mean it’s in the name!

If you are looking for a great happy hour location or an after-dinner drink, the Arlington Clover Club is the place to be. A beautiful outdoor setting overlooking AT&T Stadium, this one-of-a-kind experience includes a large green space for yard games, teambuilding, receptions, VIP shopping activations or just about anything else you could imagine. To really wow your attendees there is a magical special effects fountain with fast paced chaser jets, 200 color changing lights and 6 dancing flame nozzles that can be customized for your event. What says total event success like flame nozzles!!!

When your attendees have some downtime or you would like to host a relaxing team get together, the cabanas at the SOAK Pool are just the spot.  Each cabana can hold 7, with soft seating and a personal fridge stocked with sodas and water. Access to Netflix, an X-box loaded with games for additional entertainment and a hummus and fruit tray to snack on, make this the perfect hangout.

If just stopping by for a while additional seating is located around the pool and food and beverage service from SOAK bar is available seasonally.

Live! by Loews has 300 guestrooms and 23 suites. Each room is floor to ceiling windows and is beautifully furnished in modern gray, purples, reds and blues. All artwork in the rooms represent attractions from the city and the view from your room lets you know you are in the heart of the entertainment district.  Each room comes with a personal refrigerator, free wi-fi, Keurig coffee maker, iHome stereo FM clock and 24-hour room service.

The 35,000 sq ft. meeting space is stunning. Modern design, state of the art technology, natural light in several meeting rooms, and gorgeous views of surrounding stadiums and green space. Beautiful chandeliers and a continuous piece of artwork that makes its way throughout the whole function space floor.  The indoor and outdoor space gives you unlimited opportunities to create your event vision.

What I love about Live by Loews is it is such a diversified location. It is great for a girls trips, corporate meetings and events, weddings, and family vacations. It really plays hosts to all travel demographics. This includes pets! That is right Loews is pet friendly. Pets receive a pet tag, bowl and special treat.  There is also a gourmet room service menu, local dog walking routes, creature comforts like bedding, leashes, litter boxes and more. Your pet will be majorly pampered at Lowes!

In addition, Loews loves families, they have family friendly fares, complimentary cribs, baby bath amenity kits and as a parent anything that makes traveling easier with a kid is A+ in my book.

Arlington is such a great city to vacation in or if you are local to staycation.

The Arlington Entertainment District includes, Six Flags Over Texas, Hurricane Harbor, Globe Life Park, AT&T stadium, International Bowling Campus & Museum and Downtown Arlington. These are all places that are family friendly and such a blast to visit. Don’t forget that you can ride the trolley from Loews to these places for free!

It was so great being back in Arlington and visiting Live! by Loews! I will definitely be back again soon especially after hearing all the details of future fun developments.
